Breaking the Norm Reflection

The Breaking the Norm social experiment completely changed my mind of how I view the Mormon church. At first, I was completely sure that the church would be judgmental or even hateful;, but that wasn't the case. I found myself questioning maybe I'm the one who is judgmental, since I expected worse out of the Mormon church. To my surprise many were kind and took no notice in my appearance, which was refreshing. Although, I still really disagree with the church mainly on feminism issues, the people were simply people. I know now, I should not judge a person by the group they happen to be associated in, but rather just that person who happens to be in the group.

The Breaking the Norm social experiment has impacted me and will continue to play a role in my beliefs through my philosophy be the change you wish to see in the world.  What the project has shown me is I may not agree with their beliefs at all, but like in life I may not agree with another person's way of life or philosophy, but that doesn't mean I should treat them poorly. Instead, I should embrace their differences because our differences can shine light on issues in the world I may not be able to see. Our differences make the world better.
