HLAC 1030: Lifetime & Lifetime Activities KICKBOXING

You Can't Master Something You Don't Love- Ronda Rousey

Reflection

  1. What connections have you had from what you’ve studied in this LW course with what you’ve learned from other courses you have taken at SLCC or have learned before taking this class? Make specific references to your work in this class and in other courses. How did what you learned in other courses enhance what you learned here, and vice versa?                                     The Connections I made with my LW course is with my nutrition class at SLCC. My nutrition class taught me what I should be putting in my body for nutrition value; such as avoiding empty calories like chips. My kickboxing class taught me to take care of my body and that it requires exercise, stretching, and overall frequent exercise. I need booth good nutrition and exercise to keep me healthy, you cannot have one with out the other.
  2. Reflect on what you thought about fitness and lifelong wellness before you took this course and how you think about it now that you have completed the course. Have any of your assumptions or understandings changed? Why? What assignments/activities/readings were influential in this process? How will you approach what influenced you differently in the future?                                                                                                                                                                                                                   When I first began this class I knew this was going to be an intense class, but I felt even then you can do whatever you set your mind to. I always believe in persistence and determination. The biggest thing that I learned and helped is really stress management.Due to being super ambitious and think I can do everything I tend to really burn myself out. Stress management has helped as far as really letting yourself relax or finding outlets to distress like exercise.

Module 5 Signature Assignment

Module 5 challenge I choose was to work on stress management. Before the challenge what I usually did was recognize was recognize that I'm stressed, and usually took a step back as far as making sure I do not have an emotional break down. As of now my main stress is just having too much to do in a day. I feel recognizing stress is important and taking a step back to process emotions is best. Although, it is easier said than done. For example, school with homework you cannot always avoid stress. Planning and timing is best to avoid high stress situations. Overall, I feel the best thing to do is prioritize, as well as just realize you cannot do it all, and that's okay.
